ABOUT ME

IMG_7497_edited_edited.jpg

I'm Susan...somewhere between middle-aged and elderly...somewhere between a Southern Lady and a cranky old lady. I created this blog originally during the global pandemic to help me (and maybe you?) navigate and commiserate and relate.  Now I write to become a better writer and a better person. And if my interests and experiences and opinions connect us in a deeper, more meaningful way, what a blessing. We are never alone...and nothing makes life sweeter than a nice glass of wine and a fancy dessert shared with good friends!

NOVEMBER PICK OF THE MONTH

blog the measure.png

Would you want to know the exact length of your life if you could? What would happen in your world...or THE world...if everyone did? The Measure (Erlick's first novel, apparently) offers a global and personal glimpse into the obvious and not-so-obvious consequences of having this life-changing knowledge. I thought this book would be one thing...and then it was another...not as predictable or uplifting as you might think. (Spoiler alert...it does have a happy ending!) Chilling in that Erlick seems to have insight into the sociological and psychological effects on politics, relationships, national security, families, even employment. When I was in graduate school, a professor said if a book impacts you (regardless of how) it's a good one. This one is good.
